The Career Center and Financial Aid office are collaborating to co-host two financial literacy events today, Monday, April 25. The first will be presented by Paul Goebel from the UNT Student Money Management Center where he will conduct part of his ?Money Matters? Series covering all aspects of financial planning, including managing student loan debt. This session will begin at 11:45 a.m. in EAD 506 and is open to all UNTHSC students (bring your own lunch).
The second session will be directed specifically for medical students preparing to enter medical residency. North Star Consultants of Texas, Medical Division, specialize in working with those in the medical profession and will present today at 5:00 p.m. in MET 109-111. Over the past decade North Star has conducted presentations similar to this all over Texas for numerous medical programs. Their mission is to provide a forum for which students can gain a better understanding of critical topics prior to entering into practice such as:
? Appropriate Debt management strategies
? Asset Protection
? Risk management
? Investment insights (from tax advantage investing?to how big should your first house be!)
? Contract Review (what to look for in a good employment contract)
? What pit-falls to avoid financially during your first five years of practice
