TCOM is offering its Patient Safety Course to HSC Faculty Members and HSC Health Staff

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine is offering its Patient Safety Course to any HSC Faculty Member and HSC Health Staff seeking to develop competencies in Safety Science and earn the internationally recognized Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification and the deadline to register is April 1. This course delivers the same content and assessment that over 1000 TCOM students and faculty have taken to successfully become Certified Professionals in Patient Safety. You will learn and demonstrate expertise through certification in four patient safety domains: 1) Culture & Leadership, 2) Performance Measurement, Analysis, Improvement and Monitoring, 3) Systems Thinking, Human Factors Engineering and Design, and 4) Safety Risks and Responses. Currently, learners who have taken this course have demonstrated a 98% pass rate on the CPPS certification exam compared to a reported international pass rate of 70%. More importantly, you will be able to apply such competencies within your daily work extending beyond clinical care, including preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals who require these skills aimed at preventable harm. Are you ready to assume the responsibility of addressing what would essentially be the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States?
