Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine is excited to announce the appointment of Sajid Surve, DO, FAOCPMR as Assistant Dean for Osteopathic Recognition and Director of Osteopathic Education. TCOM is dedicated to demonstrating the importance of osteopathic recognition within its graduate training programs as a key component of Whole Health Care delivery by creating dedicated leadership at this level within the college.

In this new role, Dr. Surve will work closely with and report to the TCOM Senior Associate Dean for Educational Programs. Dr. Surve will lead TCOM’s efforts to increase the number of TCOM-affiliated graduate medical education (GME) programs awarded Osteopathic Recognition by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. After first completing a needs assessment to inform his work, he will develop TCOM infrastructure and resources to assist our affiliated GME programs in reaching this important recognition and support the continuation of osteopathic distinctiveness from medical school into residency training.

Dr. Surve joined the OMM department at TCOM in 2014 as TCOM’s first dually boarded PM&R and ONMM physician. He became triple-boarded in Pain Medicine in 2015. In addition to his contributions to patient care, both at HSC Health and Medical City Fort Worth, he also started Performing Arts Medicine clinics at UNT Denton and Texas Ballet Theater, and founded the first in the nation Performing Arts Medicine Fellowship at UNTHSC. Additionally, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to education by teaching in the first and second-year OMM courses and as course director for Foundations of OMM course. The Department of Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine would like to thank Dr. Surve for all these as well as many other contributions to the advancement of excellent osteopathic education at TCOM, and wish him well as he works to advance osteopathic education in GME.
