Students: April is “Career Readiness Month: Level Up!”

Greetings HSC students! The Career Center is excited to be kicking off “Career Readiness Month” as a way to celebrate April as a time to bring your career path to light and to provide activities and resources to assist you in fulfilling your personal plan. Please join us so that you can “Level Up!” your career readiness skills!

An array of activities, resources, and of course, personal career advising, have all been made available for HSC students in all programs and disciplines, and we hope you will take advantage!

Events and Activities:
Who says the virtual world can’t deliver career development activities? As a matter of fact, it most certainly can! The Career Center will be delivering at least two online activities per week, via Zoom or other means, beginning this week as follows:

• April 1 – Career Readiness Month Kickoff! (12:00-12:40 via Zoom)
Join us via Zoom on Wednesday for the webinar “What is Career Readiness? A Job Seekers Guide to Career Resources.” Following an introduction to the concept of Career Readiness skills, participants will discover activities and services to explore, including resources available in the Career Center.

• April 3 – Career Readiness Alumni Panel (pre-recorded) (12:00-12:40 via Zoom)
Again via Zoom, join in to hear an interview with recent graduates from GSBS, SPH, and TCOM to learn about their Career Readiness journey, and how their refinement of these skills has helped them be successful in their careers.

Career Readiness Skills:
UNTHSC has identified six Career Readiness Skills (aka, Marketable Skills) that are universally valued by employers and can be applied in a variety of work and other professional settings. A truly robust professional career development plan includes much more than just academic accomplishments and technical acumen. Mastering these skills indicates you have developed attributes that broadly prepare you to successfully transition from being a graduate student to an outstanding health care professional.
