Join the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine for a 6 p.m. theatrical presentation that takes the audience on a health care journey through the eyes of a patient’s loved ones. Standing in My Shoes is an interactive, 90-minute performance about one patient’s battle with cancer. Audience members will walk hand in hand with his family as they navigate loss, love and the health care system. This session is an emotional journey providing faculty and medical professionals the opportunity to stand in another’s shoes, to gain empathy and perspective, to share advice and to create a dialogue around connection and mentorship.
Facilitated by Valeri Lantz-Gefroh, MFA, Improvisation Program Leader, Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. For the past 8 years, Val has worked with scientists and medical professionals to help them connect more vividly with the public. This story is a tribute to the doctors and medical students she has met along the path.
