The second annual a2 Pilot Awards — a national competition that has earmarked $8M annually to fund 15-30 pilot projects at the intersection of AI/emerging tech + aging/ADRD. The a2 Pilot Awards is hosted by the a2 Collective which represents and is funded by the NIA’s $65M Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratories for Aging Research (AITC) program.
This year’s competition process includes a very short Preliminary Round 1 Letter of Intent Application due on Monday, Aug 15. Decisions will be made by Sep. 16th, and then a subset of Round 1 applicants will be invited to submit an Invited Full Round 2 Application for funding by Spring 2023. Applicants can request up to $200k in non-dilutive direct costs and can be any USA-domiciled entity (for-profit and non-profit) of any size. Each pilot project will work closely with one of three AITC Collaboratories centered at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Pennsylvania.
