Seminar: Ahamed H. Idris, MD presents: “Saving Lives with Metrics” October 21st, LIB-110, 11:00-12:00. Synopsis: Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the US and other developed countries. About 350,000 US citizens suffer cardiac arrest annually. The average survival rate is only 10% in high performing US cities, but is as high as 30% in the highest performing cities. Dallas-Fort Worth is a NIH-designated Regional Resuscitation Center participating in the Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (ROC), an organization engaged in research focused on improving outcomes from cardiac arrest and severe traumatic injury. This presentation will describe ROC research and quality improvement efforts that lead to improved survival from cardiac arrest in the DFW region.
