Research Administration (within the Division of Research & Innovation) Will Be on the Move to 550 Bailey Avenue
October 15, 2019

As you may have heard in the President’s recent Town Hall session, Research Administration is moving—three programs will be relocating to our new building at 550 Bailey Ave. this winter:

• Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)
• Office of Research Compliance (ORC)
• North Texas Regional Institutional Review Board (NTR-IRB)

As you know, UNTHSC purchased the 550 Bailey building earlier this year. It is located just three blocks from campus, and Research Administration is the first administrative department that will move into the structure. This will clear space for much-needed expanded research facilities on the first floor of the CBH.

In addition, the ORC and OSP are working with the Operations Division and the Space Committee to identify “central”-campus space to hold office hours so that team members can continue to be easily accessible to the Research Community.

Overall, Research Administration will continue to maintain our quality service commitment. There will be a short disruption in services associated with the move as we transition sites. Once hard dates are determined, we will send out communications well in advance to keep you apprised of the actual move dates and what services may be unavailable for those days. Every effort is being made to plan the move to not occur during heavy application (grant, contract, IRB, and IACUC) submission deadlines. Other than a brief moving window, research support and compliance operations and assistance to researchers will continue as usual.

Please note that our Faculty Research Support Team (FRST), will remain in LIB 218. FRST, which can help researchers prepare their grant proposals prior to submission to OSP, also provides departmental research administration support for awards.

The move is anticipated for early 2020 (January). Again, once “hard dates” are identified for this move, we will let you know. After the move, we’ll host an open house when we’re settled in, so keep your eyes open for a future invitation!
