The mission of the Texas Center for Health Disparities (TCHD) is to prevent, reduce and eliminate health disparities in our communities through research, education/training and community engagement. TCHD seeks, as one of its goals, to create opportunities for post-doctoral fellows and early-stage and junior investigators to engage with community partners to develop and conduct health disparity research. The Texas Minority Health, Education, Research and Outreach (Texas MiHERO) program, supported by the John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, will expand the capacity of the institution to enhance research and research training in minority health and health disparities. To achieve this goal, Texas MiHERO conducts the IRL program, which provides grantsmanship, mentorship and networking opportunities to the participants.
