Records Management migration from ApplicationXtender to new software begins soon

Lewis Library Records Management is responsible for managing UNTHSC’s non-HIPAA records. These records are vital for compliance with various regulations including those of the State of Texas, and in maintaining our university’s institutional memory and history.

All team members who maintain records or who access them will be affected by an upcoming software migration. The current records-management software tool, ApplicationXtender, has been used on campus for many years and is no longer supported by the manufacturer.

Among its functionalities, the new tool, Laserfiche, has the ability to:

  • Notify users when documents are ready for disposition
  • Automate workflow
  • Ensure long-term data preservation

Migration is expected to begin soon and be complete by March 1, 2020.

To notify stakeholders, the Records Management team has been talking with team members across the university in small meetings.

If you use ApplicationXtender and have not spoken with us, either in a small meeting or the large information session in the summer, please contact Betty Shankle, betty.shankle@unthsc.edu.
