Passing of a Team Member

HSC Family,

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our colleague and friend, Danny Jensen, who passed away Sunday afternoon, December 5.

Danny was a highly valued member of the HSC family, joining TCOM in 1984 as its governmental affairs leader and ultimately serving as the System’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Governmental Affairs. Throughout his impressive career, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to the growth of what is now a significantly larger and diverse HSC.

It goes without saying that Danny was one of HSC’s biggest champions. Danny was known not only for the work he did on behalf of the institution, but also for his jovial personality and kind heart. If you knew Danny, you know he never met a stranger.

As part of HSC’s 50th Anniversary, Danny was designated as one of the “50 Heroes” in which Danny was described as possessing a heart “as big as the State of Texas – a state he dearly loves and serves. He is a great HSC historian and storyteller, and, more importantly, friend.”

We are grateful for Danny and his dedicated service to HSC. Moreover, we are grateful to his family for sharing him with us for all these years. For those interested in attending and paying their respects, a Celebration of Life for Danny will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Colonial Country Club.

Please continue to keep the Jensen family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Mike
