Participation in a NIH P50 center (RO1 projects)

UNTHSC, in partnership with Univ. of Houston Medical Center, will submit an application in response to RFA-MD-21-007: Centers for Multiple Chronic Diseases Associated with Health Disparities: Prevention, Treatment, and Management (P50 Clinical Trial Required).

In this application, three RO1-type research projects will be included. Some guidelines:
· Each Center will support 3 R01-level research projects with budgets of up to $500,000 annual direct costs
· Each Center must address two or more chronic conditions that commonly co-occur and/or share common social context, etiological pathways, or risk factors and share some similar management strategies.
· Centers will conduct chronic disease prevention, treatment, and management research to address disparities within a specified region for one or more populations with health disparities.
· Center research projects and pilot projects are expected to address determinants of health at two or more levels of influence (individual, interpersonal/organizations, community, societal; see the NIMHD Research Framework
A meeting of all investigators interested in submitting a proposal will be held on Thursday, April 29th from 11 am to 1 pm.
