The deadline for application is March 8th, 2021 (midnight).
The Summer Research Internship Program is designed to provide TCOM students who are considering pursuing a dual degree (DO/PhD.) with an experience in biomedical research during their summer break. This program is critical to students who are considering careers in academic medicine, because it allows them to see first-hand what research entails. They are exposed to the excitement, rewards, trials and tribulations of biomedical research. Approximately 6 students spend up to 6 weeks in this program each summer.
Once accepted into the program, students will choose a mentor and research project based on their particular interests. The mentors conduct research in laboratories. In addition, students receive training in the responsible conduct of research, oral and poster presentation skills that prepare them to present at scientific meetings. Summer stipends will be received in two payments of $500.00 over the course of the summer.
Students will be notified on 30th March 2021 regarding selection.
Program dates June 1st – July 9th, 2021. (Tentative dates depend on the TCOM schedule. It might vary by 1 week.)
