NTERI partners with The Raniyah Ramadan Foundation to support HSC student scholarships

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC) is pleased to announce that the North Texas Eye Research Institute (NTERI) and The Raniyah Ramadan Foundation will fund two student scholarships for research this summer.

Brenna Hefley and Rashik Mohammad are scheduled to begin their 8-week summer research program on July 12th. Hefley will serve in Dr. Dimitri Karamichos lab. Dr. Karamichos is the Director of Research for NTERI, and a Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology and Neuroscience. Mohammad will serve in Dr. Sima Mozbar’s lab. Dr. Mozbar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, and serves as Director of Community Outreach within NTERI.

In September, HSC and NTERI will host the 2021 Raniyah Ramadan Distinguished Symposium, dedicated to the memory of Dr. Raniyah Ramadan. Dr. Ramadan was heavily involved in research and programs for neuro-ophthalmology. HSC and NTERI are excited to celebrate her life, dreams and achievements while advancing her career posthumously. The inaugural scholarship recipients will present at the event, along with a distinguished lecture by Raniyah’s PhD mentor Dr. Michelle C. Callegan.
