NTERI Interdisciplinary Seminar Series: Restoration of Homeostasis as a Therapeutic Strategy in Chronic Retinal Disease Presented by Dr. Rebecca M. Sappington

We are pleased to announce that Rebecca M. Sappington, PhD., will present a seminar as part of the North Texas Research Institute (NTERI) Interdisciplinary Seminar Series (ISS).

Date: Thursday, November 14, 2024
Time: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Location: IREB 440

The seminar is entitled ” Restoration of homeostasis as a therapeutic strategy in chronic retinal disease“.

Dr. Rebecca M. Sappington, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Co-Director of the Translational Eye and Vision Research Center at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. As Director of the Ocular Biorepository Core Resource and Chair of the Faculty Development Council, Dr. Sappington brings an extensive background in translational research, neurobiology, and research administration. Her work centers on understanding neuroinflammatory mechanisms underlying age-related neurodegeneration, with a focus on therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring normal cellular activities rather than merely blocking pathological signaling. Dr. Sappington’s research employs innovative techniques, including biomaterials and nanotechnology, to investigate neuroinflammation’s impact on the aging retina and neuron-glia interactions.
