Description
NIH is excited to invite the public to a virtual townhall focused on gathering input on the NIH Minority Health and Health Disparities Strategic Plan 2026-2030. As we continue to address the complex factors contributing to health disparities, we recognize the importance of engaging communities. The virtual townhall offers a unique opportunity for individuals, healthcare clinicians, researchers, and community advocates to share their perspectives, insights, and ideas on how NIH can continue to improve minority health and reduce health disparities.
Purpose
NIH is seeking public input to identify the most pressing concerns in minority health and health disparities. Each goal will include potential research strategies that can be utilized to demonstrate advancements. Given that these goals may not be fully attainable within five years, it is essential to focus on priority areas that can yield significant improvements in the population(s) you represent. We will ask you to select a breakout session (see below) for this townhall and invite you to the second townhall in case you would like to contribute to another breakout or offer more suggestions in the same breakout.
Input
Your feedback is crucial in shaping NIH efforts to address health disparities. Your voice and lived experience are essential in shaping the future of NIH efforts to ensure that our research is reflective of the needs of diverse communities. During the virtual townhall, we will seek your comments on key areas of focus (i.e., research areas, training, community capacity building) that impact the specific population(s) you represent. By participating, you can help guide NIH strategic priorities and contribute to creating a more equitable health landscape for all. Join us in this vital conversation and play a role in driving meaningful change.
*NOTE: the townhalls will be duplicated. If you would like to participate in a different breakout session, you can attend one or both townhalls.
