The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Zika Loan Repayment Program (LRP) is now open and accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2017. The NHSC Zika LRP, administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, offers eligible clinicians up to $70,000 in student loan repayment in exchange for a three-year service commitment to work at an approved-NHSC site affected by the Zika virus or other vector-borne diseases. The NHSC Zika LRP is funded by the Zika Response and Preparedness Act (Public Law 114-223) in an effort to increase the number clinicians providing care to populations impacted by the Zika crisis.
