SaferCare Texas and Healthy Start are hosting a Maternal Health Conference focused on the fourth trimester.
The conference will be held at the Lena Pope Amon Carter Event Center on Thursday, September 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We have an exciting line-up of speakers and topics including personal stories and tools for providers and patients to improve patient safety. Topics and tools include post-partum depression screening in the pediatric setting, a symptom monitoring app called What About Mom? and postpartum self-care highlighting evidence-based practices to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity.
According to data from Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs), up to 78% of Maternal Deaths occur after birth while 80% have at least some chance of being prevented through better care and management.
The Maternal Health in the Fourth Trimester Conference provides physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers with an overview of current issues impacting maternal health and perinatal safety in Texas.
Renowned experts will discuss the recent legislation and other factors contributing to postpartum morbidity and mortality and propose prevention strategies that direct and enhance both inpatient and outpatient care for both patients and providers.
