IRS email scam targeting educational institutions

HSC Team,

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued a warning of an ongoing IRS-impersonation email scam that targets large educational institutions, including staff and students who have “.edu” email addresses.

These suspect emails display the IRS logo and use various subject lines such as, “Tax Refund Payment” or “Recalculation of your tax refund payment.” The email asks people to click a link and submit a form to claim their refund.

Please take a few minutes to read through the IRS’ Tax Tips to learn more about this scam, as well as information about the IRS’ Identity Protection Pin program that can further help to protect your tax information.

For questions, contact Business Support Services at 940-369-5500/855-686-4357 or email tax@untsystem.edu.

Thank you.
