HSC’s Juneteenth Observance Plans

Dear Team,

The last few weeks have led us to begin and further the important conversation around race relations, injustices and inequity. Juneteenth allows us time to pause and reflect on how each of us can personally grow to better understand how we make HSC, our local community, and the world a better place. From health equity, to addressing racism as a public health crisis, HSC has the opportunity to lead. I look forward to the journey through this with each of you.

HSC campus will close on Friday, June 19th for all HSC students, staff and faculty to observe, reflect, and learn about one of the most monumental civil rights events of our time – Juneteenth “Celebration Day”. Some local Juneteenth celebration information is provided here for your consideration. HSC team members will be granted early release time for the day. Here is the time reporting link: https://www.untsystem.edu/time-entry-guidelines-early-release

Please work with your direct supervisor if you have questions on reporting this leave.

I hope you will enjoy this time with family, friends, colleagues and community. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our One University.

Be safe and be well!

Dr. Michael R. Williams
President
