HSC Presidential Search update

From the HSC News Office – July 15, 2022, update

Dear HSC Faculty, Staff and Students,

As representatives of the students, staff and faculty serving on the HSC President Search Committee, we would like to provide an update on the work completed and next steps.

The input gathered in the robust, campus listening sessions was instrumental in defining the ideal leader for HSC. The degree of engagement left a powerful impression with the committee that we are invested in the future of HSC and that transparency is highly valued. As a result, we were able to clearly outline the job duties and responsibilities of the next HSC president and confidently move forward with a clear understanding of what our future leader should embody and represent.

The job has been advertised since June 8 with several national organizations*, and an impressive roster of diverse candidates is emerging! We are proud to share that the values we represent at HSC and the daily work of the staff, students and faculty has resulted in a strong interest for this prestigious role.

Our presidential website highlights HSC, as well as provides details about the position and allows viewers to send inquiries and submit candidates for consideration. The search firm has assured us that nominated candidates will be contacted to learn more about the position to ensure interested and qualified candidates are actively pursued.

Within the next few business days, the committee will begin reviewing the first round of applicants. Prior to having knowledge of any candidates, the committee discussed campus visits for semifinalists. We would like to be forthcoming about the results of that discussion and share that we intend to invite all semifinalists to campus. However, we also know that to ensure a high-quality candidate pool, a candidate may request confidentiality so as to not jeopardize current employment. If such candidates rise to the top, we will make every effort to be transparent and work toward the best solution to involve as many stakeholders as possible without compromising the search or confidentiality of candidates.

Please expect to see another campus update soon. We hope the presidential website is useful, and we welcome all inquiries.

Thank you,

Dianna Nguyen
