HSC Performance Payment Plan Frequently Asked Questions

Does the performance payment apply to staff and faculty?
This performance plan is for both faculty and staff and is designed to be a performance-based plan in order to reward and retain high performers.

How will I know if I am getting a performance payment?
Your supervisor will individually notify you if you have earned a performance plan payment based on your annual performance review and meeting hire date and full-time benefit requirements.

Is there a possibility that I may not receive a performance payment?
Staff that do not obtain a “meets” or “exceeds expectations” or faculty ratings that are not “quality” or “outstanding” on FY21 performance reviews will not receive a performance payment or if not employed by the HSC prior to February 1st of the 2021 fiscal year.

Do I have to be a full-time employee to receive a performance payment?
Employees must be classified as a benefit eligible employee based on full time equivalency at August 31st and would only be eligible equal to their percentage of effort.

Do I have to be an employee the entire fiscal year in order to receive the performance payment?
An employee who is employed for the entire fiscal year/performance evaluation period (September 1 – August 31) is eligible for 100% of the one-time performance payment; while an employee who is employed for less than the entire fiscal year but has a hire date before February 1st of the performance evaluation period (FY) is eligible for 50% of the one-time performance payment. If an employee has a hire date on or after February 1st of the performance evaluation period (FY) the employee is not eligible for a one-time performance payment.

Is the performance payment a permanent increase to my rate of pay?
The performance payment is not a permanent increase to rate of pay. The payment is a one-time payment that will be paid on regular pay checks on November 1, 2021.

Do I have to be an employee on November 1, 2021 to receive a payment?

In order to receive the payment,  you must be an HSC employee on November 1, 2021.

What will the amount of my performance payment be?
The total amount for the entire HSC pool is $3,300,000. The individual employee amount will vary based on performance and the number of employees that are determined to be eligible for a payment. Supervisors will notify each employee individually of their earned performance payment amount.
