Re: HSC Health Chief Medical Officer

I am pleased to announce Janice Knebl, DO, MBA, FACP, MACOI, CPPS, as the Chief Medical Officer for HSC Health effective September 1, 2022. Dr. Knebl brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role with more than 34 years of clinical practice in geriatrics, ambulatory care, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, memory care, house calls, hospice and palliative care teams. She has most recently served as our interim Chief Medical Officer and has received endorsements and accolades from our internal and external audiences.

Dr. Janice Knebl has served as Medical Director for HSC Health’s Center for Older Adults, and Interim Chair, Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, while maintaining her educational roles with the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, developing and receiving successful grants and being an active part of the healthcare community. Along with her clinical and educational responsibilities, Dr. Knebl also completed an MBA from Texas Christian University in 2002, and is a tenured Regents Professor with the University of North Texas. Dr. Knebl was the second professor in TCOM’s 50-year history to receive select academic distinction at the time of the award. She is also one of the most awarded geriatricians in the state of Texas. Dr. Knebl is a pioneer in the treatment of older adults and has made a lasting impact on geriatric training for Osteopathic medical students and health care professionals.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Knebl in this role where she will serve as part of a triad leadership team with A.J. Randolph, MBA, SVP Health Systems and COO of HSC Health, and Vicki Cannon, BSN, RN, CNO to lead financial, clinical and operational aspects of HSC Health. She will also lead HSC Health Clinical Chiefs and work closely with the Academic Chairs in deployment of both the academic and clinical mission of HSC Health and the clinical ecosystem. Dr. Knebl approaches all that she does with a “serve others first” mindset focused on person-centered, whole health and equitable care.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Knebl on her new role. I look forward to her continued success in HSC Health.
