HSC will conduct a full test of its emergency notification system at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
Several things to expect during the test:
- The wall-mounted Alertus emergency beacons will activate for two minutes with flashing lights and sirens.
- You will receive a series of “RED ALERT” emergency notifications in this order: text message, call to your cell phone, email and call to your work phone. The text message and email will include instructions on how to acknowledge receipt of the message, which will stop subsequent messages for this alert.
- An emergency notification test message will appear on HSC Facebook and Twitter pages.
- An emergency notification test message will scroll across your computer screen.
Emergency notifications are a critical component of our safety protocols. Having an Emergency Notification process is a federal mandate required under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act, signed in 1990.
We test the emergency notification system twice a year.
More information about HSC safety protocols and the emergency notification system can be found on the Environmental Health and Safety Office website.
Thank you.
