The HSC Environmental Health and Safety Office provides expertise and consultation on issues related to biological safety with the goal of maintaining a safe workplace, preventing environmental contamination and complying with applicable federal, state and local requirements.
The 2020 HSC Biological Safety Manual serves as the minimum established biological safety standards and practices for scientific research on or associated with our facilities and researchers and is the institution’s official policy. This document provides quick, consistent and comprehensive guidance for our community with respect to safety while conducting scientific research. It is recommended that a hard copy be kept in every lab and made easily accessible to all staff and students.
