HIPAA Privacy & Security Workshop

Dear Team,

In the spring we had a successful session with DOJ and government agencies to discuss export control and foreign research considerations. This invitation is the second in the series of collaborations with US government agencies to bring educational events to the UNTHSC community.

As UNTHSC continues to provide the highest quality service to those in our care, protecting the confidentiality of their personal and health information is at the forefront of our values. UNTHSC has invited the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office for Civil Rights (OCR) to present an introductory overview of the HIPAA Privacy, Breach Notification, and Security Rules, as well as touch on enforcement updates.

OCR is responsible for enforcing federal civil rights laws which prohibit discrimination in the delivery of health and human services based on race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, religion and the exercise of conscience, and also enforces the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. An integral part of OCR’s enforcement mission is to provide education and training to health care providers (including students) located within our jurisdiction (AR, LA, NM, OK, and TX).

This workshop is open to all UNTHSC team members. If you would like to attend please Register Here. The presentation will be held on:

July 26th from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM in EAD 108

We’re excited about this continued collaboration and encourage your full participation.
