Healthy adults with pain free feet needed for a research study

The Department of Physical Therapy is recruiting healthy men and women for a study entitled “Variability of Triaxial Plantar Loading in Diabetic Patients”.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of activity on changes in walking patterns, foot temperatures and the development of diabetic ulcers. We are currently looking for healthy individuals between the ages of 40 and 70, able to walk for 30 minutes without assistance, free of foot pain and have no history of diabetes or inflammatory disease. Participation involves walking on a treadmill for 20 minutes and other walking activities. The study will be in two sessions, totaling about 2 to 3 hours in the lab, with 1.5 to 5 hours in between. Participants will be free to leave the lab between sessions and will be asked to walk a predetermined amount during this time. Travel costs and time commitment will be compensated.
