On Thursday, Award Winning Author Peter DeSilva, will share about his lifelong struggle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a progressive degenerative disease involving the peripheral nerves that connect the arms, hands, legs and feet. CMT was first discovered in 1886, but there is currently no cure for this disease that affects 1 in 2,500 people in the United States and more than 3 million people worldwide. CMT affects people of every gender, race and ethnicity. Peter de Silva will be at 550 Bailey on the 5th floor sharing his story of his lifelong struggle with this disease and how he is trying to raise $10M to support the CMT Research Foundation to find a cure for this disease.
Peter is the author of the award winning book “Taking Stock: 10 Life & Leadership Principles from My Seat at the Table” which was released in the spring of 2023.
