Eric G. Krause, Ph.D. will present seminar “Shedding light on brain angiotensin receptor signaling: implications for comorbid cardiovascular and affective disorders” on 9/22/17 from 11-12, LIB110

Eric G. Krause, Ph.D., Associate Professor, College of Pharmacy, University of Florida will present seminar “Shedding light on brain angiotensin receptor signaling: implications for comorbid cardiovascular and affective disordersAccumulating evidence indicates that stressful life event predict the development of affective disorders, which in turn, predict the onset and severity of cardiovascular diseases”. The seminar will present research that examines how angiotensin receptors expressed on specific types of neurons within the brain coordinate behavioral and physiological responses to psychological stress. The results suggest that angiotensin receptors residing in the hypothalamus potentiate stress responding and may promote the onset of anxiety disorders and cardiovascular disease.
