Dennis Thombs selected as School of Public Health Dean

After a nation-wide search, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Dennis Thombs has been selected as the next Dean of the School of Public Health.

Dr. Thombs has been serving as interim Dean of the School of Public Health here since September 2015 and was selected from a large pool of excellent candidates.

Dr. Thombs received his B.A. in Sociology, MA and Ed.S in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida and obtained his PhD in Health Education from the University of Maryland.

Before joining UNTHSC as Professor and Chair of our Department of Behavioral and Community Health in the School of Public Health, he was associate Professor and Coordinator of the MPH-SBS Concentration in the Department of Behavioral Science and Community Health in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Thombs in accepting this position. We look forward to his leadership in moving the SPH to prominence.
