Court delays FLSA overtime change

On Nov. 22, a federal judge blocked implementation of the Department of Labor rule that increases the minimum salary level for employees who are exempt from earning overtime.

UNT System Human Resources sent an email to all employees on Nov. 23, stating that campus and System Administration officials are aware of the judge’s decision and are continuing to study its impact on employees whose salaries have been adjusted in response to the new rule as well as those employees who have been moved into a nonexempt classification.

System HR also said in the email that it anticipates receiving further guidance toward the middle of this week and will update employees as information becomes available.
