?Tis the season to party hearty. But if you are not up to driving after a festive evening, plan to call for assistance with the confidential SafeRide program. Don?t drink and drive.

SafeRide is also available at any time for other unanticipated circumstances such as drowsiness due to medication or the distraction of emotional distress, such as a family death, divorce or other concerns that may impair your ability to drive safely.

SafeRide is provided by the free, confidential Employee Assistance Program or EAP. Users must pay cab/transportation fare, and then have the cost reimbursed by Alliance Work Partners, the UNTHSC EAP provider.

SafeRide may be used up to three times, and should take you (or your family member) to your place of residence.

Here?s how SafeRide works:

-Be sure you have the number of your local cab or transportation company in your pocket, wallet or purse. SafeRide will not solicit transportation for you. Travel must be within 50 miles, one way.
-Call your ride service and get to your place of residence safely.
-Be sure to get a completed receipt from the driver.

Please note that SafeRide must be used to go to a place of residence and may be used for up to three times.
