“Zinc Deficiency: New Insight into Blood Pressure Dysregulation in Chronic Kidney Disease”

Zinc deficiency is a common comorbidity of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Up to 90% of CKD patients have uncontrolled hypertension. Recently, we reported that zinc deficiency alone is sufficient to promote hypertension. Our studies provide evidence of the underlying renal mechanisms involved. This new insight may have an important therapeutic impact on the treatment of hypertension in CKD patients.
