CANVAS Training – February 11th – This live Zoom training will cover TECHNOLOGY TOOLS

Participants will rotate through a series of stations for 15-minute mini-sessions. Sessions include the following topics:

Each participant will pick 3 from the following sessions from which to attend.

Zoom 

  • Interface
  • Record meetings and lectures in Zoom 
  • Utilize breakout rooms 
  • Download app for Zoom 

Mindomo

  • Recognize the purpose of mindmapping and concept-mapping
  • Identify options for sharing mindmaps with students 
  • Create Mindomo assignments
  • Use the Mindomo interface

Turnitin

  • Explain the purpose of using Turnitin plagiarism detection with assignments 
  • Create a Turnitin assignment using advanced settings 
  • Interpret a Turnitin report 

LockDown Browser + Respondus Monitor

  • Understand what is LockDown Browser and its purpose
  • Respondus puts on webinars for instructors 
  • Every student will need to download HSC’s version 
  • Add LDB + Monitor to quizzes 
  • Use an ethernet cable if possible 
  • View class results 

H5P

  • Identify the purpose of H5P 
  • Review the list of tools offered in H5P 
  • Illustrate samples of H5P formative assessments 

Mediasite

  • Upload a video in MyMediasite
  • Name a video with the course prefix and number before the title
  • Embed a video in a course page
  • Set a video to be viewable
  • Request captions for videos in online courses
