Become a state-certified vision screener! It’s easy, it’s fun and it will give you the opportunity to have a rewarding volunteering experience.

The North Texas Eye Research Institute (NTERI) is actively working to engage the community to provide vision screening and vision education and needs your help. NTERI has trained and certified hundreds of volunteers across all HSC schools. With the help of those volunteers, we have screened thousands of individuals in our community. We will work with the area’s Independent School Districts to complete their state-mandated vision screenings, as well as participate in health fairs and community events to provide free vision screenings and promote the importance of comprehensive, routine eye exams.

All volunteers are required by the state to be trained and certified in using the PlusOptix handheld refractometer in order to conduct screenings at the schools. If you are interested in volunteering, please do the following:
