Associate Fellowships: Supported by Pharmacology & Neuroscience Department and the Center for Healthy Aging

The Neurobiology of Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Training Program is pleased to
announce the availability of associate fellowships for all students.
Current MS and PhD students, from any discipline, interested in this associate fellowship
should combine the following documents into one pdf file named after them and submit to
Dr. Nathalie Sumien (Nathalie.sumen@unthsc.edu) and Ms. Cheryl Bryant (Cheryl.bryant@unthsc.edu) electronically:

1. An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV)

2. ½ page statement of interest outlining how the applicant’s research direction and/or interest
relates to the neurobiology of aging and/or Alzheimer’s Disease.

3. ½ page on how the money will be used (budget and justification; preference will be given
to lower than $1,000 requests with strong justification)

* All students are eligible, including non-US citizens/permanent residents.
Appointed associate fellows will receive up to $1,000 award to support the purchase of relevant
reagents and supplies (excluding purchase of animal and human subject related items, and
controlled substances, including radioactive reagents). The award will need to be spent prior to
July 15, 2025.

As a stipulation of accepting this fellowship, trainees are expected to attend the annual NBAAD
symposium and participate in NBAAD Journal Club (held once a month in the Fall and Spring)
for 1 year.

In addition, they are expected to acknowledge the training grant (T32 AG020494) in
any published abstracts or manuscripts and they will be given the opportunity to participate at
the Annual Neurobiology of Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Trainee symposium (at UNTHSC
usually in May).
