Annual enrollment for optional benefits ends July 24

Annual enrollment for optional insurance benefits ends Friday, July 24, for faculty and staff at UNTHSC. Enrolled members received a letter from the Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS) with an explanation of existing benefits and enrollment instructions.

Insurance benefits include medical, dental, prescription drugs, optional term life insurance, short term disability and long term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, dependent term life and long term care through CNA. Flexible spending accounts also are available for dependent care and certain medical expenses.

Changes must be made by July 24 to be effective Sept. 1, 2015, for FY16. No changes may be made during the fiscal year, except for certain qualifying life events such as marriage, birth or adoption of a child, death of a spouse, and others.

If no changes are made, the current year’s benefits remain, with any mandated changes and cost increase for FY16.
