All emergency communications to be TESTED at 10 a.m. on March 4

Don’t be concerned at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, when you see and hear safety beacon alarms, receive Red Alert messages and see the emergency banner on the UNTHSC website home page. We’ll just be conducting a comprehensive test of all our emergency communications, specifically:

  • The new safety beacons, installed recently in 35 locations throughout UNTHSC, will be activated in silent mode. They will not beep or show flashing lights, but they will display a text message to indicate a test is underway. Learn more about the safety beacons.
  • Red Alert System (phone, text and email systems). Calls and texts will come from 817-735-2210.

Please do not call the UNTHSC Police upon receiving these messages. Unnecessary calls may delay police response to an actual emergency. This is just a test, and no action is needed.

Remember to update your Red Alert information at my.hsc.unt.edu before the test on Thursday.

If you have problems receiving any of the test messages, please contact Blake Abbe, Emergency Manager, Safety Office, 817-735-2698 or blake.abbe@unthsc.edu.

Remember, it’s only a test!
