AHSE (Academy of Health Science Educators) Session #5 on Tuesday, March 23rd from 12pm to 1pm; Part 2 Culture-Based Models of Instructional Design: Building Spaces for Inclusive Learning

The Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) invites all educators at the HSC to come together at the Academy of Health Science Educators (AHSE) in the spirit of collaborative learning. AHSE will encourage all educators to develop excellence in facilitating learning at all stages of education from classrooms and labs to practice and research. The AHSE will foster a culture of educational excellence that values diversity.

In this session, John McKenzie (Asst. Director, Center for Innovative Learning) will share strategies for incorporating cultural considerations into the design of courses. Topics covered include basic processes of instructional design, how culture relates to student learning, high-impact small steps one can take to improve learning, the culture-based model of instructional design, and how to systematically use the CBM to enhance learning for all students.
