Track Your Volunteer Hours
We ask that all students and employees submit any volunteer hours completed Sept. 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019 through OrgSync.
UNTHSC tracked nearly 48,000 volunteers hours during the 2017-2018 academic year. View the 2016-2017 Volunteerism and Service Report here.
Serving Others First
If, as Muhammad Ali said, “service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth,” then Contracts Administrator Barbara Conley has a big room. She volunteers her leisure time to teach water safety and swimming to small children, helping prevent drownings and giving kids a lifelong fitness activity.
“It is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done besides being a parent and grandparent,” Conley says. “I build self-confidence and athletic strength in these kids.”
And by logging her volunteer hours, she helps build our university’s strength.
New students in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences volunteer in many places all over the community.
On May 31, they contributed almost 1,000 hours of service.
Their hands-on work ranged from painting picnic tables at the Boys and Girls Club, to painting a Salvation Army warehouse, to serving as docents explaining how the human body works for visitors at the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History, and many other tasks.
At the Center for Transforming Lives (once known as the YWCA), which provides anti-poverty programs for women and children in Tarrant County, the students sorted clothing donated to the resale shop. Said Center Development Assistant Kathleen Brozgold, “We greatly appreciate all of the hard work from your awesome volunteers/students! We look forward to working with you all in the future!”
