After 8 years of mentorship, education, and leadership at The University of North Texas Health Science Center, the College of Public Health recognized the impact of Dr. Catherine Sembajwe-Reeves as she prepares for an exciting transition in her career.

Introduced to CPH in 2012, Dr. Sembajwe-Reeves served as Assistant Director of Academic Affairs before transitioning to the Institute for Patient Safety (now SaferCare Texas) as a founding staff member. She then transitioned into local public health and eventually earned her doctorate degree. In 2023, Dr. Sembajwe-Reeves made the return to campus and to the College of Public Health as a full-time faculty member and the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program director.

Dr. Sembajwe-Reeves also served as CPH’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program director for the public health leadership concentration. As program director, she oversaw curriculum development, CAHME and CEPH accreditation compliance, and quality improvements of both programs. As faculty, she engaged in student advising and ongoing program assessments to ensure that coursework met student’s needs. In May, she was honored with the College of Public Health Faculty Mentorship Award at the 2025 End-of-the-Year Banquet.

During her final week with CPH, Dr. Sembajwe-Reeves was celebrated on-campus by members of the CPH community before presented with a commemorative UNT Health plaque by Barton Gill, health administration and health policy department chair.

“Under her leadership, we were able to stabilize the MHA program and build upon its impact and reputation” says Gill. “We are deeply grateful for the passion, expertise, and steady commitment she brought to our programs and our students.”

As Dr. Sembajwe-Reeves’ embarks on her new chapter with UT Southwestern, her influence will continue to shape the future of our MHA and MPH programs.
