Dean Richard Kurz appointed to National Board of Public Health Examiners

Dr. Richard Kurz, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, has been appointed by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) to serve on the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE).
Board members guide the NBPHE in its mission to increase recognition of the public health professions, raise the visibility of public health and measure, and improve the competency and consistency of public health workers through the public health credentialing exam.
Dr. Kurz joined the UNTHSC College of Public Health in 2007 after serving as professor and dean of St. Louis University’s College of Public Health for 29 years. He holds a BA in sociology from Washington and Lee University and a doctorate in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The UNTHSC College of Public Health is one of only 46 schools in North America accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and has been recognized as having one of the most diverse student bodies of any school of public health in the nation.
