College of Public Health

About Us

The College of Public Health provides masters and doctoral level degrees and education in public health, and also offers courses for working professionals. Beyond the academic setting, students gain actual work experience through relevant public health practice. The certificate program serves to make public health education and training more accessible for the public health practitioners in our local, regional and state community.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program prepares students to be effective public health professionals working in a variety of organizations and agencies that serve to promote and protect overall health. Coursework focuses in one of seven areas: biostatistics, community health, environmental and occupational health sciences, epidemiology, health management and policy, maternal and child health or professional option.

The school’s primary research objective is to engage in high quality research related to pressing public health concerns, be it locally, statewide, nationally or internationally. Current projects include Diabetes Research, Education and Metabolic Studies (DREAMS) and Promotoras, which involves teaching lay persons to provide health education and promotion. These projects focus on the health needs, disparities and risk factors of Hispanic persons in the Fort Worth community.

To ensure a strong, ongoing commitment to our community, local public health professionals are invited to engage in our strategic planning focus groups and faculty recruitment efforts.
