Dr. Caroline Rickards’ lab team brings home awards from cerebrovascular research conference

Members of the Cerebral and Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory lead by Dr. Caroline Rickards, professor of Physiology and Anatomy in HSC’s College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, attended the Cerebrovascular Research Network (CARNet) meeting in Quebec, Canada from Oct. 29-31.

Viet Dinh, PhD candidate, presented his research on assessing Pulsatile Perfusion Therapy and its protective effects on cerebral blood flow and survival following severe hemorrhage. Dinh won First Place Oral Presentation and was named Overall Winner in the trainee competition.

Austin Davis, PhD candidate, presented his research on assessing dynamic cerebral autoregulation via inflatable thigh cuff compressions, and won the inaugural CARNet Bingo.

Rickards, who serves as the current chair of CARNet, took a lead role in organizing and delivering the annual meeting.

CARNet is a multi-disciplinary community of researchers focused on solving problems related to assessment of cerebral blood flow regulation. The organization hosts members from around the world at the annual conference to discuss the latest cerebrovascular research.
