Certificate and Distinction Program:

The purpose of IPE is to prepare health profession students for interprofessional practice by teaching collaborative practice competencies within the context of interprofessional teams. All health professions now require the integration of interprofessional education into their curricula. Faculty must be prepared to integrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for effective collaborative practice into the curricula of both the preclinical and clinical years of training

All faculty are encouraged to participate in earning a Certificate of Recognition in Interprofessional Education. Such training will demonstrate scholarship in the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to facilitate the integration of interprofessional education into health professions curricula.

Interprofessional Education Faculty Certificate of Recognition and Certificate of Distinction are available through the UNTHSC Center for Innovative Learning (CIL), in partnership with the UNTHSC Department of Interprofessional Education and Practice and INCEDO. Online, asynchronous and synchronous, learning will be utilized for this program.

IPE Certificate of Recognition Overview:

Participants who earn an IPE Certificate complete a team project, 12 hours of online training (to include reading required texts), and 6 hours of in-person training via Zoom (12:00 to 1:00 pm) on the following dates:

1. February 12, 2021
2. February 26, 2021
3. March 12, 2021
4. March 26, 2021
5. April 9, 2021
6. April 23, 2021

Faculty will demonstrate the application of online training through interprofessional team-based projects during the in-person sessions.

To earn the Certificate of Recognition, faculty must complete all pre-work assignments and attend each session in its entirety. Therefore, in order to register for the program, faculty must commit to completing all online work and attending each session. One excused absence will be allowed.
