Teaching Excellence Seminar Series

Summary: Quality learning begins with quality teaching. This seminar series is designed to provide a brief overview of educational philosophy, and research supporting a variety of effective teaching practices in the adult classroom and to enhance the teaching skills of faculty.

Program description: This seminar series is a 14-session series over the course of two full semesters (fall and spring). Each session will be 60 minutes long and provide lunch for those attendees who have registered for a minimum of 10 of 14 sessions.

Others are welcome to attend seminars covering topics of interest and they may bring their own lunch. Space is limited.

This year, sessions will have levels – Introductory, advanced and all, and be aimed at beginning, and advanced faculty and teaching clinicians.

Those attending at least 10 of the 14 sessions will be awarded the Certificate of Completion, indicating they have had at least ten hours of educational continuing education and practice over the year. Additionally, those who are willing to be evaluated at least twice during the year and commit to demonstrate the effective use of learned concepts in the second evaluation will receive the Certificate of Teaching Excellence. Participation in the certificate is closed, but you can still register for the remaining sessions listed below.

Sessions are Mondays from 12 noon to 1 PM in LIB 400. Lunch is for registrants of 10 sessions with a lunch ticket and is served at 11:30 AM.
