Sarah Ross, DO, MS

Dr. Sarah Ross is a geriatrician and Assistant Professor at UNTHSC, as well as the director of the Geriatrics Clerkship. A bilingual doctor, Dr. Ross enjoys taking care of Spanish-speaking patients. She is passionate about caring for individuals with Dementia and providing education and support to their families. She is board certified in family medicine, geriatrics and palliative care.

Janice Knebl, DO, MBA

Dr. Janice Knebl is the Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Endowed Chair in Clinical Geriatrics, Director for the Center for Geriatrics, and Interim Chief of Medicine for Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at UNT Health Science Center. She has been a Geriatrician for over 30 years.

Tyson Garfield, DO

Dr. Tyson Garfield is a geriatrician and Assistant Professor at UNTHSC, where he graduated from in 2014. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem in 2017, NC and his Geriatric Fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver in 2018 before serving as a primary care physician for a Program for the All-inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE). He now is a primary care physician and geriatric consultant at the Health Science Center as well as several area long term care centers and hospitals. Dr. Garfield finds it very important to partner with his patients to be certain What Matters to them is brought to the forefront of their care.

Dr. Brittany Love is a Geriatrician and Assistant Professor at UNTHSC. She has experience providing care in community hospitals and long-term care settings in Dallas and Fort Worth. Dr. Love teaches medical students, residents and fellows. In addition to her work her clinic work, she provides care at several of Fort Worth’s premier continuing care retirement communities. Her passion is providing holistic and compassionate care to seniors and their families.

Dr. Hadley is the Director of Geriatrics at JPS where she completed her Family Medicine Residency and Geriatric Fellowship. Since 2005, she has also served as their Geriatric Fellowship Program Director. She continues to practice full-scope Family Medicine by taking call with Maternal-Child Health faculty along with seeing patients in the outpatient, inpatient, home, and long-term care settings.

Dr. Kathlene Camp is a practicing Physical Therapist and Assistant Professor at UNTHSC with over 19 years of clinical experience in acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, home health and outpatient care. She is a board-certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy and is trained as a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults and a Certified Clinical Vestibular Therapist. Dr. Camp also teaches in the Doctoral Physical Therapy program on topics related to motor control with aging and neurological dysfunction.

Barb Harty has been a registered nurse for the last 25 years and is experienced in long-term care, acute care and ambulatory care. She currently holds national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. She is also a Clinical Research Coordinator and has been lead coordinator for studies involving aging, including Alzheimer’s, osteoarthritis, epilepsy and diabetes.

Dr. Kate Taylor is an experienced certified family nurse practitioner with 22 years in health care. She has primarily worked in the hospital setting to include serving as a critical care Army Nurse Corps officer. Kate last worked as a nurse practitioner in the hospitalist role for over a decade. She transitioned to the outpatient arena and is a new assistant professor for HSC, working in the geriatric department. Kate is active in the clinical education for students and provides advanced care planning for the clinical practice group. She is a provider for the house calls program. Kate is also a clinical executive for SaferCare Texas improving safety in care delivery. She recently earned the credentials for certified professional in patient safety (CPPS), which demonstrates proficiency in the core standards of patient safety.

Dr. Diana Cervantes, Assistant Professor and Director of the MPH Epidemiology Program at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth School of Public Health (HSC-SPH) has been named as a 2022 Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Sandra Davis, MD, is a diplomate of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of Psychiatry.  She is an assistant professor in the Department of Geriatrics.  Her research interests include Major Depressive Disorder, Cognitive Disorders, and Movement Disorders.  She enjoys teaching medical students in years 1-2 with Clinical Communications and Clinical Integration at TCOM.  Area residents and fellows also rotate through the department to gain an understanding of psychiatric practice in their communities.

As an infectious diseases clinical pharmacist, Dr. Ramanathan’s research interests encompass areas related to infectious diseases pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship. Dr. Ramanathan employs various antimicrobial stewardship interventions to help optimize clinical outcomes, while minimizing unintended consequences of antimicrobial use, including toxicity, the selection of pathogenic organisms, and the emergence of resistance. Her research has primarily focused on the use of procalcitonin and data-mining tools, such as Pharmacovigilanz, to promote being better stewards of our limited antimicrobial resources.

Kristen Reuter, LCSW-S, MSSW, CDP, CADDCT

Kristen Reuter Kristen Reuter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board Approved Supervisor, with over 10 years of experience working in the field of geriatrics. She currently serves as an instructor in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and Director of Social Services for HSC Health, Center for Older Adults. As a clinical social worker in the Center for Older Adults, she provides direct patient care to older adults and their caregivers as part of an interdisciplinary team. Additionally, Kristen is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. She specializes in counseling individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Kristen’s academic duties including teaching interprofessional health students in the clinical setting. She is a field instructor for the social work departments at UNT and TCU.

Ms. Susanna Luk-Jones has over 27 years of experience in the field of Gerontology and recently joined the Center for Geriatrics as a research manager where she serves as the program coordinator for Project ECHO.  For 23 years, she was the Director of Programs and Services for the Alzheimer’s Association – North Central Texas Chapter overseeing the provision of programs and services for 40 counties in Texas.  Prior to that, she coordinated a geriatric professional development program for health care professionals with the Texas Consortium of Geriatric Education Centers.

Ms. Lisa Buck joined the Center for Older Adults as Senior Project Coordinator in the spring of 2022 after 11 years working for the Alzheimer’s Association. She is responsible for promoting the ECHO series and performing tech support for Nursing Home STRONG ECHO and supports SAGE (Seniors Assisting Geriatrics Education) and education programs for nursing homes.
