CHARGE members and partners collaborate on projects, presentations, and publications to meet the CHARGE mission: To promote and support equitable, optimal aging through community & health alliances, research, and geriatric education (CHARGE).
Projects
- Infection Control Advocate and Resident Education (ICARE): Led by Dr. Diana Cervantes in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Severance and Brittany Krenek, this project promotes infection prevention in nursing homes, with an emphasis on promoting and preserving residents’ rights.
- Medical Student Training in Aging (MSTAR): Led by Dr. Jennifer Severance, this program provides age-related research and community events for entering second-year medical students. CHARGE Public Health facility served as research mentors for students.
- Nursing Home Affiliated Entities Data Analysis: With the assistance of two medical students, Drs. Diana Cervantes and Andrew Yockey are analyzing CMS nursing home-affiliated entities datasets to assess the association between psychotic drug use and urinary tract infections.
- Long-term Care Ombudsman, Public Health, and Quality Improvement Organization Collaborations in Nursing Home Infection Prevention: Led by Dr. Diana Cervantes and Brittany Krenek, this cross-sectional survey will assess the knowledge and practices of these entities in collaborating to enhance nursing home care quality related to infection prevention and control.
