Developing Undergraduate Researchers-Matter (DURA-M) Program
DURA-M, sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, addresses the significant gap in the number of underrepresented minority groups, disadvantaged populations and individuals with disabilities that enter biomedical and behavioral science careers. This program will provide undergraduate students interested in pursuing NIDA-related research, a 10-week summer research experience in a mentor-guided laboratory and workshops to enhance their academic and career development.
Program Dates:
Start Date: May 12, 2021
End Date: July 16, 2021
Eligibility Requirements:
- Students completing freshman year and sophomore year and junior year students
- 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average
- U. S. Citizen or permanent residency
- Major in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or other life science
- Intention of pursuing education beyond the bachelor’s level
Program Components:
- Faculty mentors
- Ten-weeks of mentor-guided research
- Mini-lecture series in NIDA-focus areas
- Preparation for research
- Research presentation skills
- Library and electronic research techniques
- Poster Presentation of Research at Program-end
- Mentee Training and Networking through the National Research Mentoring Network
Summer Research Internship Scholar Support:
- Stipend Allowance (Approximately $3,921)
- Living Accommodations
- Travel Allowance

- Transcripts (official) from the all undergraduate institutions attended
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty members
