Pathways Program
Our Mission:
To support students academically and professionally by developing their ethical decision making skills.
There are two Pathways options for students: Restorative Pathway and Perspective Pathway.
Overview
The Pathways Program provides the opportunity for students to gain insight and perspective on decision making, professionalism issues, and provides accountability to students responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct and Civility. In an event to where a student is alleged to have violated an academic, professional or community standard, the Student Code of Conduct and Civility provides a restorative approach within its sanctioning process. This restorative approach is known as: Pathways. Pathways can be used to change the narrative around student conduct and civility by utilizing a restorative process for students when they accept responsibility for violating the Student Code of Conduct and Civility. With the pathway option, students who accept responsibility for a policy violation will be provided with developmental opportunities to choose from that will provide autonomy in developing meaning and learning. The sanctions used in the Restorative Pathway are assigned by the Student Conduct Officer and are not optional.
Restorative Pathway
This pathway provides accountability to students who are found responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct. This pathway will be selected by the Student Conduct Officer.
Perspective Pathway
This voluntary pathway will allow the student the opportunity to reflect on their decision making to gain personal insight and perspective, allowing students to explore resources to allow them to be a productive member of the HSC community.
Pathways Resources
The Pathways Program is designed to meet the needs of students across the HSC to foster student success both academically and professional. The Pathways Program will empower students with insight and perspective, through emotional intelligence and coaching, to improve as an individual.
